Art Club:
Art Club will meet to create art, do service projects, and look at other artists' works. Art Club will begin at 7:30 am on Thursdays we have school, and wrap up at 8:20 allowing students to eat breakfast and transition to class. Meets on Thursdays at 7:30am in the Art Room.
Meetings will be on Thursdays at 7:30am. First meeting on Sept. 10th.
DUES: Dues are $5.00 and will go towards special supplies.

ASL Club: Mrs. Neighbors will be hosting an ASL club this year along with occasional help from Mrs. Schlender, Mrs. Bews and Mrs. McDaniel. ASL club will be for anyone wanting to learn more about the American Sign Language community and learn basic/beginning signs. As the year progresses, we will learn how to hold conversations and sign simple songs. You will need signed parent permission in order to participate and they will need to fill out the google form (using the QR code) on the ASL Club flyer. Our club will meet Tuesdays 4:15-5:15 in Mrs. Neighbors' classroom (608) and begin on Tuesday, September 15th.
Chess Club: This is a beginning Chess Club. All skill levels are invited to play but the emphasis will be on beginning skills. Chess Club will meet Wednesday mornings before school from 7:15am in room 604. First meeting will be Wed., Sept. 9th.

Color Guard: TJMS Color Guard is affiliated with CCHS Marching Band. Is an artistic, expressive activity involving movement, dance, and performance. Color Guard learns to carve, spin & toss flags, blunt sabers, and mock rifles, along with choreography and interpretive dance. First meeting TBD

FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes): Meets every other Thursday morning at 8:15am in the gym. We play sports themed games and have fellowship together. We have a short bible study along w/prayer requests and close with a prayer. First meeting will be Thurs., Sept. 10th.

Fishing Club: Students will enjoy fishing at the Cole County Park Lake while learning techniques and skills that help them grow as anglers. First meeting will be Wed., Sept. 9th at 7:45am in room 106.

Glee Club: We will meet the LAST TUESDAY of the month after school until 5:00pm in the Choir Room. We sing fun songs and learn a little bit about music. You must have a ride home or sign up for the activities bus.

Guitar Lessons: Mr. Reimund is offering free music lessons after school. You can pick up a permission slip in room 603. We meet after school until 5:00pm in room 600. First Meeting is Wednesday, Sept. 9th 4:00-5:00pm.

Jazz Band: 7th and 8th grade band students and any students that play drum set, bass, electric guitar, or piano. You do not need to be enrolled in band but you do need prior knowledge to play an instrument. We meet every Monday and Wednesday after school until 5:15PM. The first practice TBD.

MathCounts Club: We meets on Thursdays after school until 5:00 in room 811. We practice a wide variety of math strategies on all math topics.

NJHS Club: This is a distinguished club for students who are academically driven and also display positive character traits. NJHS´ mission is to provide leadership and community service opportunities for students.
Students must have at least a grade point average of 3.5 and display service, leadership, character, and citizenship to be considered. We meet as needed throughout the year.

Patriot Pages: Is a student produced literary and art journal filled with work from TJ students. Selected student editors will help to choose student writing and artwork to print in the journal and will also be in charge of coming up with themes and ideas associated with the journal. We will meet after school, until 5:00pm on Mondays and/or Tuesdays. Meeting dates TBD. Student editors must be available to meet during these times. You should be a strong reader, be responsible, and have a passion for creativity. If you are interested in helping as a student editor, please talk to your writing teacher and complete and submit the application. We will be reviewing the applications, and we will reach out to those selected.

Patriots of the Bible: Students will study the Bible, encourage one another, and grow together in their faith. The club will meet Tuesday mornings from 7:45a.m. First meeting is Tues., Sept. 1st in room 146.

Patriot Reading Challenge: Designed for TJMS students to read the Mark Twain and Truman Award nominees. Working at their own pace and receive rewards and recognition at five different levels of achievement. After reading an award nominee book, the student takes a short quiz. This group doesn’t meet but rather students complete the reading and quizzes on their own.

Scholar Bowl: Students will work as a team to test their knowledge across a variety of subjects while building critical-thinking, communication, and quick-recall skills through practices and academic competitions. Meetings TBD.

Social Media Club: This club is responsible for creating content for school-related events and celebrations for Facebook and Instagram. The club's intent is to support school spirit and TJMS pride, help students build marketable skills, and also help with the production volume of social media posts. The club will meet on Monday afternoons from 4-5 pm, the first and third weeks of the month. The first meeting will be on September 14th after school until 5:00 in room 108.

Speech & Debate: Open to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. We will meet on Mondays and Tuesdays after school until 5:00 pm in room 709. We will practice the skills associated with Speech and Debate. We also compete in Speech and Debate competitions.

Stitch Clique: Let’s get together and crochet. We will meet on Wednesdays after school until 5:00 PM. First meeting is Wed., Sept. 23rd. We will learn new skills or enhance existing skills associated with crochet.

Student Council: The Student Council plays a very important role in our school. They help share students' ideas, interests and concerns with the teachers and principal. They help the students raise funds for school-wide projects, assist the community (Patriots for a Cause) when they are in need of aid, and help plan social events for students. Being on the TJMS Student Council is something that helps our students become responsible and active members of the community. The Student Council has four officers; President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer, who are elected by the entire student body in the spring. The rest of Student Council is comprised of At Large Representatives from each grade level. At Large Representatives apply in the fall of each school year. (6th graders apply term 2) We will meet the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month at 7:45am in the gym. First meeting TBD.
